They just had a very anti-bi conversation. Saying that it doesn't exist and stuff. Pick a side. Bisexuality is just a layover to gay. All the things that are portrayed far more subtly in other television shows, laid out flat for me just like that.

Maybe I should've kept watching to see if the storyline became enlightened. But I just can't stomach any more. Not right now.

Any Dead Zone fans out there? Not sure if there are on my flist, but I just saw the ep "Collision" and I wish there were people out there to squee about it with. I don't know if Dead Zone was even an active fandom, though. But omg!

I don't know if this is from an actual movie, but whether it is or not, I want to see the movie. I know there's two or three of them, thanks to IMDB.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead was written by Tom Stoppard, and when I saw his name, I was sure he'd written something I'd read at some point. I looked it up and it turns out he wrote Arcadia, which I read in college, probably eight years ago.

I originally found this song looking for Johnny Cash stuff. Cash covered Hurt in 2002, which was originally written and performed (WARNING: images of death) by Nine Inch Nails in 1994. I found this out by doing a little research, which led me to discovering that in 1995, NIN toured with and opened for David Bowie, during which their opening performance was transitioned into David's performance when David performed the song with NIN.

Men and Body Image

Overall I think it was a pretty good article. I don't usually think about men having body image issues, and as much as I think about how women are portrayed in the media, I don't think about how men are portrayed physically in the media. How they're portrayed compared to women, particularly personalities and the roles they're expected to play, sure. But not how they look.

My only complaint about this article would be the heterosexist angle, but it's not as prominent as it could be. Also, I think the conclusion is pretty poor, but I'm not going to nitpick. Much.

I was watching this episode of SVU today. ( Could be triggery. )

It just pisses me the fuck off when people, especially when confronted with dissonance between monosexuality and acts that are not monosexual, assume monosexuality, and don't even consider the possibility of bisexuality.

And I mean, like, "gay pride" and PFLAG and all those other organizations that focus on non-heterosexual monosexuality. Why aren't there any bisexual characters on American television? And why is Captain Jack Harkness the only bisexual character I'm aware of?

Okay, so this is a clip from a West Wing episode, another show that I never watched, but now I'm thinking maybe I want to watch it.

On HGTV and A&E, they have a lot of specials where we get to see a construction project take place. The home owners have a vision, and describe it somewhat vaguely to a contractor or designer, who describes it back to them in much more detail. We then get to see a summary of the construction as it occurs, be it installation of shutters, painting different colors, added-on rooms or any of various accents or furniture specifically designed for the home owners' vision. Sometimes the project is to add curb appeal, or to increase the selling power of a home, or add a wine cellar when before there was none.

But I think it would be incredibly fun to watch the redesign or new design of a room created for BDSM. We see the finished project so often in fic, but at least in my experience, not the project in progress itself. And unless there's a programme on BBC that I don't know about, I don't think we're going to see it on tv, either.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm getting at, though. A fic challenge? A request for information about tv shows or movies that talk about this kind of thing? I don't know. All I know is, I'm intrigued by this idea, and I want to share it with as many as people as possible, at least those who would be intrigued by a project such as this. So please comment... I'd love to discuss it.
